Food & Beverage Manager

About the Lot 6 Project

The City of Calgary and the Calgary Downtown Association (CDA) are developing a vibrant new outdoor venue on Lot 6. Nestled along the river and near the commercial district, Lot 6 will offer amenities for residents, workers, and visitors, including a possible dog park, events with DJs and live music, as well as a bar, restaurant, café, and/or ice cream shop.

2024 Pilot Edition

  • Dates: August 29th to September 30th
  • Hours: Thursday to Saturday, 12 PM to 11 PM
  • Events: 3 per week

CONDITIONS

  • Start Time: July 15th
  • End Time: October 4th
  • Salary: $25 – $40/hour depending on experience
  • Position: 30h / week 

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with Aire Commune, the City of Calgary, CDA, and Belleville Placemaking, the Food & Beverage (F&B) Manager will oversee the food and beverage operations at Lot 6, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction. We are looking for someone that will manage inventory, staff, and vendor relationships to deliver F&B offerings that highlight local flavours and family favourites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage in-house resources and subcontractors regarding the F&B of the space (staff hiring, training, work allocation, scheduling)
  • Manage various tools to monitor inventories, sales statistics and expenses (tools provided by Aire commune’s team)
  • Planning and integration of payment systems
  • Oversee management of the project’s food&beverages operations (control of operating costs, staff compensation, accounts payable and receivable) and material resources (supplies, inventory management, supplier management)
  • Ensure optimal use of all facilities and maximize profitability
  • Day-to-day F&B operations management

KEY SKILLS

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs

EXPERIENCES

  • Experience in F&B management
  • Experience in the event management industry
  • Candidates must have a laptop computer and a cell phone that can be contacted throughout the duration of the pilot
