Social Media Manager

About the Lot 6 Project

The City of Calgary and the Calgary Downtown Association (CDA) are developing a vibrant new outdoor venue on Lot 6. Nestled along the river and near the commercial district, Lot 6 will offer amenities for residents, workers, and visitors, including a possible dog park, events with DJs and live music, as well as a bar, restaurant, café, and/or ice cream shop.

2024 Pilot Edition

  • Dates: August 29th to September 30th
  • Hours: Thursday to Saturday, 12 PM to 11 PM
  • Events: 3 per week

CONDITIONS

  • Start Time: July 15th
  • End Time: October 11th (possibility of mandate extension in the event that the project’s opening dates are délayed)
  • Salary: $25 – $40/hour depending on experience
  • Position: 40h / week 

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with Aire Commune, the City of Calgary, CDA, and Belleville Placemaking, the Social Media Manager will develop and execute social media strategies to enhance Lot 6’s online presence, engage with the community, and promote events. We are looking for someone that will create compelling content across various platforms to drive brand awareness and attract attendees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participation in the ideation and development of content campaign concepts
  • Writing and creating content for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
  • Manage multi-platform publishing calendar strategy (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
  • Cover events in the Lot 6 space
  • Image processing & creation of supporting visuals for content
  • Help with all related tasks concerning communications/marketing
  • Participation in weekly team meetings
  • Managing public and private interactions with the public

KEY SKILLS

  • Proven experience in social media management and content creation
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and trends
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and report on social media metrics
  • Creativity and ability to work independently

EXPERIENCES

  • Education or significant experience in a related field (marketing, communications)
  • Good knowledge of the event industry is an asset
  • Good knowledge of a public space’s social media management, an asset
  • Candidates must have a laptop computer and a cell phone that work properly
