Place Laval - Saison froide
Place Laval Saison Froide transforms the heart of downtown Gatineau into a warm, vibrant, and welcoming winter destination. Designed as a temporary public space, the site invites residents and visitors to embrace the city throughout the colder months. Fire pits, a winter bar, food offerings, and free programming create a lively gathering place to connect, get moving, and celebrate winter from December to April.
As part of the city’s downtown revitalization plan, Aire commune designed, developed, and activated Place Laval Saison Froide for the City of Gatineau. The project combines design and programming to extend the use of public space beyond the warmer months. An initiative that demonstrates the potential of winter placemaking to transform an urban space into a true destination, whatever the season.
