Lumino Aérien
Lumino Aérien is part of LUMINO Montréal, a winter festival that transforms downtown into a vibrant open-air museum. Each year, its illuminated installations invite visitors to experience public spaces in a new way, creating an immersive, welcoming, and memorable journey through the city.
For this project, Aire commune was responsible for the technical development, production, and installation of a series of aerial light structures suspended above Sainte-Catherine Street. Inspired by the visual identity of the Quartier des Spectacles, these sculptural installations redefine the pedestrian experience by introducing a striking rhythm and presence within the urban landscape.
Designed to withstand Montréal’s harsh winter conditions, the painted steel structures required extensive technical development to ensure they were safe, durable, and feasible for long-term use in the public realm. Lumino Aérien demonstrates how design, engineering, and light can come together to transform an ordinary street into an engaging and memorable urban experience.
